Tour Operators

There is currently over 150 tour and travel operators in the country. These operators offer information that visitors (tourists) to Uganda need to know about the destination Uganda to aid their travel. Visitors to Uganda must depend on these tour operators to deal with them honestly and competently. The operators must provide their clients with the product or service as advertised/promoted in a brochure or website or as contracted for.

There are many opportunities for new and innovative tour operators who have international contacts and are able to market Uganda internationally as a new destination based on the special attractions currently being promoted by Uganda Tourist Board. These attractions include:

  • Adventure Holidays
  • Sport Fishing
  • Eco-tourism
  • Avi-Tourism (Bird Watching)

Uganda is emerging as a long-haul destination, especially for specialty tours. Uganda is increasingly seen as an up-scale tourist destination with a mix of ecological flavour and limited adventure.

Ugandan tour operators have established high standards in the industry. Foremost is the principle of ethical conduct, which requires operators to conduct business according to a set of professional standards. Additionally, operators must represent all facts, conditions and requirements relating to tours and vacation packages truthfully and accurately.
